Opened a couple hours prior and served double-blind. The wine pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core moving towards a slightly tawny rim; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of desiccated and ripe fruits: cassis, brambles, pipe tobacco, old leather bound books, dried mixed flowers, warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and rich. Initial conclusion is this is a Bordeaux-style blend from the United States or France but I felt this leaned more towards the quality of the fruit. So I called Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from the United States, California, Napa Valley, 1986. Whoa…just about nailed it. This is showing very well. Drink now through 2030. — a month ago
2018 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 15 mins and one hour. Beautifully feminine and expressive nose leapt out of the decanter. Medium body. Nice balance of dark fruits and tannins but slightly disjointed. A bigg Napa vintage so either another decade or a three hour tour...er...decant would seem to be the ticket here. 01.31.25. — a month ago
1 hour decant(lots chunky/fine sediment). A gorgeous inky purplish garnet color. On the nose: dark fruit, forest floor, smoked meat, floral, cigar wrapper, pencil lead. Taste: smooth, rich, creamy mouthcoating wine with blackberry/dark cherry, dark chocolate, earth, tobacco, baking spice, and a cedar/graphite medium plus finish with some slight dusty tannins. Had this 2 years ago, and it's improved. In the beginning of its drink window at 18 years? Wow — 2 days ago
Double decant and pour(lots and lots of sediment). A splendid still dark murky ruby red color. On the nose: very aeromatic notes of perfumed red fruit, forest floor, eucalyptus, smoked meat, mushroom. Taste: silky, savory, elegant wine with a little dark cherry/plum, loamy soil, mocha, tobacco, and an earthy licorice medium plus finish. YUM! Got to be patient with Seavey, but worth the wait. — 2 months ago
Double magnum celebrating my daughter’s marriage.
Excellent wine. Beautiful nose of cassis and blueberries. Coffee notes on the mid palate, with very little oak to talk about. Nice texture supported by muscular tannins. Finishes moderately sweet. Nice acidity suggests that there’s no rush to consume this. — 16 days ago

Sipping Fine Wine
Blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec, aged in 40% new French oak. Deep Ruby color with aromas of ripe dark fruits, cedar and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, black cherry and currants with notes of herbs, pepper spice, hints of vanilla and earthy notes. Fine sweet tannins, long finish ending with cacao, smoky oak, fruit and mineral tang. Very nice, aging well, but time will reward! — 9 days ago
