La Grande Côte

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

Grands Échézeaux Pinot Noir 1990

Wow. Just amazing nose- roses, plum, red flowers, lifted cherry. Heartbreakingly beautiful and lifted. The palate is still pure and intense. Defined with incredible limpid definition… violets and length. Wonderful — 9 days ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2022

Popped and poured from magnum; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2022 pours a deep ruby/purple with a transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart red and dark fruits: Bing cherry, pomegranate, licorice, dried green herbs and rocky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A young Côte du Py, especially in this format. Drink now with patience and through 2042. — a month ago

Bonneau du Martray

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2011

A pristine bottle tonight, and I particularly love the vintage for the producer, as it captures the perfect balance of richness and focus. It’s exceptionally detailed, powerful and layered with lemon cream pie-white flower aromatics with a deep, creamy and mineral inflicted palate. In top shape, and may even outlast the surrounding 10/12 vintages which are almost always premoxed. — 2 days ago

La Grande Dame Brut Champagne Blend 1990

Quite young looking lemon , just a hint of gold . very fine bubbles , that dissipate quiet quickly in a white wine glass . Lots of roasted nuts , toasted bread , caramel , and a oyster shell , caramelised lemon peel , saffron , lemongrass and a hint of curry . On the palate this has more of the caramel notes , with saffron , some lemon, mineral a quite tight , slightly astringent acidity and mineral finish. Not overly intense but quite good length , with mineral , oyster shell , toasty , brioche finish . This is fully mature and is at peak in magnum , drink now and over the next 5 -10 years . Disgorged March 2020 — 23 days ago

Fading at the edges. Beautiful soft dried herbs, wild strawberry, tang. Translucent and precise on the palate. Complex and delicious and long mature note and hauntingly pretty — 9 days ago
