La Piana Capraia

Lunarossa

Quartara Giffoni Valle Piana Colli di Salerno Fiano 2018

A beautiful wine.

Nose: white flowers. Lemon. Mountain meadow. A hint of sponti.

Palate: so clean. Drinking a mountain stream. Finely powders minerals. Lemon flowers.

More than the sum of its parts. It has an elegance.

This wine seems to oscillate between very dense meursault and a wispy chassagne like thing from vintage to another. A huge swing.

Cantina Morone

Nero Piana Barbera

I like this wine! Smooth yet full, but has a little kick (pep?) to the end. Great with charcuterie. Not my favorite red ever, but good to throw in the mix. — 5 years ago

Tenuta di Capraia

Gran Selezione Effe 55 Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2018

100% Sangiovese. Medium ruby color. Intense aromas of black cherry/currant, graphite and violets. Same fruits on the palate with notes of forest floor, bittersweet chocolate and dried bay leaves. Nice mineral/herbal note on the finish. Dense structure and vibrant acidity. Powerful and complex, but very well balanced. Very “Bordeaux-like.” Tailor-made for the American palate. Thanks for the bottle, Kase! — 2 months ago

Cantine Paradiso

Posta Piana Puglia Nero di Troia 2017

Another good (and underrated) wine from an unheralded varietal (also known as Uva di Troia) from the Puglia region of Italy. Dark purple color with ruby highlights. Concentrated nose and pallet of red/black berries and spices. Earthy hints of prunes, dates and figs. Silky tannins. Plush, concentrated, vibrant and bright. — 3 years ago

Tenuta di Capraia

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2018

Deep dark cherry on the nose, nice mineral-flecked gravel notes. A little tight initially on the palate, it opens slowly to reveal deep savory/dark fruit. Medium low acids, tannins hidden in the deep wash of fruit. Very nice over the next few years. — 5 months ago

Salvatore Molettieri

Ischa Piana Irpinia Aglianico 2018

100% Aglianico. Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas and flavors of plum, black cherry, tobacco, dark chocolate, graphite and freshly turned soil. Touch of pepper spice on the finish. Bright acidity and very firm tannins. Bone dry. Best with food. Give this one a decant. — 2 years ago

Cantine Paradiso

Posta Piana Primitivo

This is really nice, fragrant nose and delicious palate, easy to drink, a little sweetness but blended with smoke, vanilla and dark fruit. Great wine that delivers well above its price point. — 5 years ago
