De Martino

Legado Gran Reserva Carménère 2022

Dark cherry aroma, medium body, drinks like a Cab Sauvignon with a Merlot after taste. Paired beautifully with a spicy, slow braised pork stew. — 4 months ago

Viñedos del Contino (CVNE)

Single Vineyard Rioja Garnacha 2015

Red cherry, strawberry, plum, fresh herbs, balsamic, and hint of lavender fills an aromatic and deep nose. Soft juicy entry with flavors mimic the nose but lightly candied. Medium to full body that’s beautifully textured. Bright acidity and polished tannins.

This is in great contrast to Alto Moncayo, showing off PN-like elegance. Still packing a punch though. Need to find couple of bottles to cellar.

This is great, and a good value at $50. Complex nose with everything from balsamic vinegar to charred meat. Full, viscous on palate. An interesting, well made wine, that easily accommodates the ABV of 16%. — 8 months ago

Didn’t know what to expect from this one, but a great dinner wine. — 3 years ago

As expected, this is rich and voluptuous but somehow manages to have a sense of balance and sophistication. Drink now for its hedonism, but it really needs another 5 year also to settle down. — a month ago

De Martino

Reserva Legado Maipo Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Fruit-driven Cab from 20-25 years old vines in Isla de Maipo, just south of Santiago. Fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, and aged for 12 months in oak barrels. Quite jammy nose with aromas of dark fruit (blackberry, cassis, blackberry gummies), red fruit (strawberry, strawberry jam) and hints of bell pepper and tobacco. Medium-bodied, ripe fruit flavors. Very fresh on the palate. Long, spicy finish — 2 years ago
