Exquisite. Always solid. Paired with filet mignon. — a month ago
Has the 2015 and it must be decanted… after 2 days decanting it was lovely. Zing and texture were back. — a month ago
Dark ruby coloration. On the nose, dark cherry , ripe plum, vanilla, forest floor, oak, leather, truffle, spice, chocolate. On the palate, full bodied and elegant. Complex with an Extensive finish. Cherry, dark berry, vanilla, balsamic, spice, oak, gravel/minerals/forest floor then chocolate takes over. Long finish. — 6 days ago
Wegmans “peppery” wine - carmenere grape — 7 days ago
A foolproof supermarket wine. Really delicious, especially seeing as so many bottles of this are made! Very nice. — a month ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2020 Reserva pours a deep ruby/purple with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart dark fruits: blackberry, black cherry, toasted coconut, dill, vanilla, wood, and associated baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Already balanced but the oak is playing a significant role at this stage (this is traditionally made Rioja Reserva we’re talking about). There is plenty of stuffing however and I expect this will become even more balanced with some time on its side. Want to see a wine under $20 that can age for 30 years? Welp, here you go. Drink now through 2050. — 15 days ago

Poured into a decanter 30min prior to service and enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2017 pours a deep ruby/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart black and red fruit: mixed brambles, plum, black cherry pie with slightly burnt crust, cocoa, dried herbs and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is plush. The 15% is remarkably well hidden. This is one of those wines for me where I go, “How’d they do that?” But then I shouldn’t be all that surprised, this is Vega Sicilia we’re talking about. Drink now with at least a 30min decant and through 2032-ish? — 14 days ago
