Il Molino di Grace

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2016

Medium garnet to the edge with a medium nose of red & black fruits with some earth and light leather or earth. Medium bodied with clear acidity but balanced tannins. — 8 months ago

Molino Real

Mountain Blanco Moscatel de Alejandría 2018

Very floral aromas with a hint of citrus, light on the palate with citrus acidity, the floral comes through but is balanced by lots of saline minerality. Very nice, Mr. Rodriquez! — a year ago

Bedrock Wine Co.

Areio e Vento e Amor Evangelho Vineyard Red Blend 2022

Really fantastic with many years to become more refined. The 2022 Areio from Bedrock’s Evangelho vineyard is deep and dark and full of violet on the nose and light pinkish purple in the glass. It’s incredibly smooth then there’s a bite of red berry and a finish of leather and baking spice as you work through its structure. — a month ago

Tenuta Col d'Orcia

Poggio al Vento Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Hot nose, big floral, fat berry, tar, chocolate. Medium dry tannins, lots of oak, takes away a bit from the fruit. Tight. Needs to breathe. I’ll wait to score. After two hours it’s put on weight. Fruit came out and tannins became well integrated. I’d have given it a 87-88 on opening but now it’s a solid 92. — 6 months ago

Gallinotto Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Gallinotto is an official vineyard located within the Giachini MGA. It’s notably unique due to its exposure and soil composition relating much closer to Rocche dell’Annunziata, just a bit lower in altitude. FWIW, I have found that the Barolo of Mauro Molino get more interesting with each passing vintage; presenting a really smart value.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over a two hour period. The 2019 “Gallinotto” pours a bright garnet with a translucent core and a slightly orange rim. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, developing with predominantly fresh red fruits: raspberries, cherries, strawberries with some pomegranate, roses, orange peel, gravely earth and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with sneaky high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is a very elegant expression; juicy with a lovely, slick texture. Power is not a word I would use here but it’s very attractive. Drink now and over the next 15 years.

Villa Molino

Soave Classico Trebbiano Garganega 2022

This wine has a golden yellow color in the glass. The nose is highly aromatic, with citrus minerals, apricot and a lanolin note competing for attention. The palate is brisk and full, showing Meyer lemon, guava and a hint of pineapple, all laced with a streak of salinity. The acidity is fresh, but not ripping. The long finish has a sense of apricot outlasting all the other flavors. It's a great wine for sipping, but I would also pair it with a creamy pasta primavera. — 4 months ago
