Had a dose of Brett that I found distracting in this wine (I don’t always find it so, but here it obscured too much). Would have loved to taste without that flaw. Even so, still very good. — 7 months ago

Pretty wine, deep red fruits. Don't get as much of the peppery or bacony notes, they might have been obscured by the herbed stuffed bacon wrapped chicken pairing 😉

Micheli Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Deep Ruby and a pronounced nose of cassis, blackberry and black cherry nearly obscured by a heavy hand with vanilla, toast , charred wood and other oak influences. For me the wine lacks balance with high alcohol and low acidity skewing the fruit. For those who like Napa fruit bombs this will be a hit but it is not a wine of elegance and balance. — 2 years ago

A delicious Pinot Noir from our trip to Osoyoos in 2017. Qwam Qwmt means achieving excellence in the language of the Osoyoos Indian Band. We really enjoyed visiting Nk’Mip, trying the wines and enjoying the restaurant overlooking Lake Osoyoos and the valley, even if the view was obscured by the heavy smoke from the wild fires from that summer. — 4 years ago

This wine comes on with a bit too much oak for me. Bright cherries and spice on the nose are obscured by the wood effect, but it’s not so pronounced on the palate. There’s great fruit here when it shines through. Firm tannins beg for meat. Sausages? Bolognese sauce? — 6 years ago

Castello di Verrazzano

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2019

A ripe, full, balanced Chianti. Color is fairly saturated. Nose shows dark black cherry, intense and rich minerality, lots of pencil lead (no, we’re not in Pauillac, Toto). In the mouth, it’s on the more sedate, less acidic side, with almost rich flavors of cherry and liquid stones. Finish is very long, with lowish acids for a Tuscan Sangiovese, and quite a bit of tannin, though it is well obscured and integrated. Not a pizza wine, though that’s what I opened it with. Like a Brunello, this would shine with a grilled steak. — 2 years ago

Bric dël Fiasc Barolo Nebbiolo 1996

The winemaking here is very much in evidence, and obscured the classic features of an aged Barolo. Yet quite an achievement. Still massive and young, with dense, balanced structure. A powerful wine with brilliant fruit. Terrific with 6 hours of slow-o. — 5 years ago
