Pale golden yellow. Tropical fruit, pine and wood spice notes in nose. Pine and spice with tropical fruit finish in mouth, semi dry, decent acidity. Mild skin astringency with minerality in aftertaste. Small producer worth seeking out. This bottle was a gift from my brother. I can’t find anything on the internet about this vintage though. Obscurity has its privileges... — 5 years ago
This was a fascinating Italian White from Piemonte. This is 100% Timorasso a varietal that was rescued from near obscurity by Walter Massa. It’s native and unique to the Colli Tortonesi. In the past many growers were ripping out Timorosso and planting the more prolific and boring Cortese (Gavi). Thank God for Massa once you taste this. Mid Gold in colour. Rich and textural with notes of fruit salad and honey. Apparently aged versions show petrol like aged Riesling. Amazingly zero new oak. On the palate an absolute fruit salad of flavours with a note of guava. Medium Acid. A flat out delicious wine which I will definitely seek out in the future. Could keep this in the short term but irresistible now. Bought at Roscioli in Rome @Ceccherini Cristiano - your old haunt as a sommelier. One of the 1001 Wines. — 5 years ago
Lascombes has, in some obscurity, been building back to its 2nd growth status. It doesn’t get the kudos it deserves yet but this 2005 is exceptional. 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, it has a beautiful range of aroma and flavors: black cherry, coffee and vanilla notes, restrained violet and forest floor, it’s an elegant wine and still has its bright Ruby color. Surprisingly good. — 3 years ago
Old style barbaresco. The tannins have mellowed out but they are still there. Tertiary aromas that are hard to describe, faint rose petal perfume, old leather, maybe a bit of cinnamon. The color is brownish red. It is medium body with drying sensation at the end. The finish is long and persistent. I bought this one a long time ago and probably paid $20 or less . I am pleasantly surprised how good it is for its age and the producer’s obscurity. — 5 years ago
Many social platforms today use the term "social" (as an adjective) to describe the value they would like their platforms to provide. I feel many fall short. You have loads of friends on the other platforms; yet, they are friends of nobody, really. I consider Delectable to be different. @Bill Bender spoke of this so eloquently a while back. My prose in no way could ever rival a Cambridge Don, but I'd like to tip my hat to the points that he made. First, I have made many close friends here; you know who you are. I can't say that for LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, et al? Wine is sometimes considered an odd, and somewhat obscure passion. But I find clarity amongst this obscurity, because of your posts and scores that you share. But I always find gems, such as this one shared by Paul T. $5 from K&L, its criminal! Most of the peeps I follow share great tips, like this one! So for this reason, I thank Delectable for providing the opportunity to expand my true network of friends, and grow my knowledge of fine wines. Renovation update - second staircase has been removed. Additional framing has been installed to support the sheetrock behind the 2nd staircase. With any luck the second staircase will be installed just before thanksgiving. — 5 years ago
2016. Elisabetta Foradori’s leading teroldego, a grape she has championed from obscurity. Heaven in the mountains. She isn’t called Queen of the Dolomites for nothing. — 3 years ago
Motor oil monicker is apt for this black beauty. Big top springs into action in latte tones, and is pulled back to the viscous tar. Tea leaves lacing slide slowly to obscurity. Licorice and chai nose flecked with sparkling candies ginger and an array of mints. Medium heavy mouthfeel lifted by ethereal spices flaunts cardamom, clove, allspice, nutmeg and citrus oils, dark sugar and coffee notes framed by oak and buried vanilla. Sticky finish lingers; pair with ginger snaps. Must be fall.

Super consistent. Full, easy Italian without the obscurity of aromatics and nuance of geeky bottles. Straight forward, simple, but well done. — 9 years ago

White capped drop to cirrus clouds and white crayon dogs over a golden amber pool. Oily lacing slips into obscurity, undeciphered. Tangerine and lemon oils confront grapefruit and cashew on the nose. Light clove and blood orange emerge in golden lemon zest on the palate. The bread-y center reads as sourdough, and plays peek-a-boo with razor thin toffee creme.
