Austin Hope

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Deep dark and concentrated color. Perfect balance of rich fruit and oak on the nose. High tannin. Leather, cacao. Medium length and very oaky finish. This is a very robust wine. Enjoying with a buttery ribeye. — 12 days ago

Meiomi

Monterey County Pinot Noir

Had a fine dining restaurant bartender recommend this to me about 10 years ago. Have tried and enjoyed multiple Pinots since then. But then I have the Meiomi again and wonder why I bother with anything else. Dark cherry, blackberry, mocha, cinnamon, allspice and a hint of oak . . . very smooth. Love it with broiled salmon and shellfish. — 15 days ago

Sea Smoke

Ten Estate Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2016

Lucious and a bit opulent palate with aromas and flavors or Kirsh and stewed strawberries make this a concentrated Pinot. Velvety tannins and a medium-full body make for a nice palate. — 19 days ago

Crushed raspberries, unripe strawberry, persimmon. A bit more fruit and less austere than previous two years. Good. — 5 hours ago

Failla

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Oh Failla how I’ve missed you ❤️. I remember my tasting visit on the verandah and Ehren walking in through the front. This was back in 2013 when I was working as an intern for Abe Schoener at The Scholium Project. Magical times, magical wine found in my small Australian hometown. 2021 at $110 Australian and worth every dollar ❤️ — 11 days ago

Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2008

2008 | Pinot Noir
Goldeneye; Estate
Mendocino; Anderson Valley, Philo, CA
(91-93; Drink 2024-33)
2H decant

Enjoyed with a Cherry wood smoked pork tenderloin, Kosher salt/pepper rub. Pork was topped with a mushroom/Madeira reduction, great pairing of wood smoke, fortified wine & mushrooms.

Smoked dinners are interesting here, normally I'm getting licked/bitten by a cat though the entire meal, he's our foodie guy and so par for the course.

I really enjoy these older Anderson Valley PN's with some time away, teetering on dried cherry, over-ripe cherry on the nose and faint stem notes. Palate shines with dried strawberry, dried cherry, faint forest floor and shaved bittersweet chocolate. I believe this will be in prime form in 2028-30+.

Isosceles Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2019 “Isosceles” pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark brambles, crème de cassis, tobacco, Fresno chilis, Mexican chocolate, dry earth and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a big, powerful wine but it’s fairly balanced. I would drink now though it probably wouldn’t struggle to see past 2029. — 21 days ago
