Friendly drinkable Syrah ($15). Floral and fruity with a clean finish. — 2 years ago
The nose is a complex mixture of pear, apricot, fig and melon aromas. And there is a lingering honey finish that only an aged wine can provide. — 4 years ago
The 2018 Le Cigare Blanc was made from 54% Grenache Blanc grapes and 46% Vermentino from the Central Coast vineyards Cedar Lane, Paragon and Beeswax. I'll admit, I miss the Roussanne, which was jettisoned in favor of another grape. Fortunately, I love Vermentino, too, and it delivers enough salinity to be a worthy replacement. The nose threw me, because of its strong fruit’n’floral aromas. After a few minutes, the salinity came through and even more savory notes appeared on the nose. However, as with Le Cigare Volant, the Blanc is probably much more approachable in its new form. It doesn't mean I like it better. — 5 years ago
My last bottle brought over from Argentina and what a bottle it is. My friend tasted blind and thought Pinot noir, or even an Austrian red because it is so fleshy and fresh. A paragon of the Zelig that Malbec can be in the right hands. Carmelo Patti is a godfather of Mendoza wines & is, as far I can tell, a one man Gang of Four so it’s all about natural winemaking here: opaque Ruby, fresh red raspberries & cherries, tree bark, & a subtle grip on the back end. Tannic structure leaves a light imprint. Some imported to the states, & so worth seeking out. — 2 years ago
A paragon of Pommard. Nose: perfect cherry scent. Palette: complex and full , changing through the sip, bitter cherry becoming sweet cherry become crisp acid. A great wine. — 2 years ago
Already ready to drink. Intense, Cabernet-driven Bordeaux, with deep black cherry and plum flavors. Powerful earthy nose. Superb value and a paragon of Pauillac. Great with Secret de Compostelle cheese. — 2 years ago
Perfect hue for the Golden state. Nose is honey, cucumber and something funky. Maybe ‘pool toy’? Flavors are luscious. Streaks of acid and bitterness pair perfectly with the melon, apricots, yellow plums and honeysuckle. Pretty round in the mouth. It’s a fragrant and tasty CA Viognier. Hasn’t lost any freshness 5 years on. And it’s SIP Certified Sustainable to boot. — 4 years ago
