Paris 2025.. brought back. — 2 months ago
Lovely aromas of smoke, candle wax, marshmallow, garrigue and peach. Medium acidity with a medium-bodied waxy texture. Refreshing — 8 months ago
Deep golden in color with more body and intensity than a Chardonnay. Asian apple and some apricot on the palate. Neutral oak provides umami as well. This wine is in it’s ideal drinking window! — 9 months ago
Still drinking well after 40 years. — 20 days ago
Nice floral acidity. Very pleasant to drink right now — 9 months ago
Seamless. Green pepper, eucalyptus. — 9 months ago
On the lighter extraction side. Could be mistaken for Cote-Rotie rather than Cornas. Tannins are subdued, but elegant. More in the autumnal, green tobacco here rather than the smoked meat and leather. Easy and effortless.
Have always heard Cornas needs extra aging. Not the case here, although I suspect the bright acidity will carry this wine years into the future. This bottle is begging for a seared duck breast. From Bern’s bottle shop. — a month ago
I initially expected more based on vintage + producer, but also have to keep context in focus that this is Crozes-hermitage.
Followed over two days and very little changed.
I’m surprised at saying that after 48hrs for a C-H…I think this is in a weird phase/shut down. Powerful/heady aromatics (black fruits, olive, espresso). ABV pokes out a bit up front. Good mid-palate weight with peppered dark fruits, herbs and some iron before a curtain of tannin shuts this down hard. Undeniably Syrah at the finish with a rusticity I normally find in Cornas…dark florals, spice, graphite and some charcoal. A serious and structured C-H. — 2 months ago
