This was interesting... Imagine swishing rusted nails in blackberry juice and taking a healthy sniff and sip. I hope you’re up to date on your Tetanus shot, because this bag of metal will punch you in the throat…in a good way. Pair with something lightly flavored. — 2 years ago
That’s some apropos naming right there. You got some green apple rounded out with pears and like a squeeze of pomelo. Take all that and dunk slab of metal and a granite flint with just the right touch of petrol to fire off those taste buds. I imagine this would taste amazing as a an accompaniment to shrooms. I mean I wouldn’t know... — 4 years ago
Opened a few hours before our meal; no formal notes. This is the second time I’ve had the good fortune to drink the 2012 Barolo in the last two years and it remains a beauty in her prime with gorgeous red fruits, roses, hot metal, mushrooms and orange zest. Fabulous structure. Finish is long and saline. No sign of letting up anytime soon and looking back at my previous notes, I can't say there has been too much in the way of evolution either. Stunning pairing with Morgan Ranch filet. Grazie Tim! — 2 years ago
Haunting and ethereal aromas of roses, tar, leather and so much more. Classic old school pedal to the medal Neb. Smokey and hickory aromas as well. Stunning. Palate is mega juicy and mega structured with amazing purity and depth and just exquisite fruit and lovely length. This has many decades ahead of it and is really a value when compared to what $40 gets you in the Langhe. As this airs i’ll be back. — 2 years ago
Nose has ripe dark fruits, plum, blackberry, black cherry, wet rusted metal and garden soil.
Palate has sweetened tart cherry juice, blackberry jam, wet leather, dried leafy herbs, cocoa powder, faint metallics with a long finish and mild tannins.
Quite a nice bottle.
Decanted 3H, starting to unfold, but 8-10 more years appreciated. — 3 years ago
Rose pedal nose. Rhubarb and raspberry leads to leather with a bit of eucalyptus. Tannins still firm holding the wine nicely together — 2 years ago
This bottle gushes out flavors like a Viking gushes blood on a battlefield.
Dark sanguine hues set the tone for iron rich aromas featuring tar, bacon grease, dark chocolate and old leather. As it opens up there are some pomegranate and vanilla cola flavors to compliment pepper, espresso, and blood. Big structure but still smooth.
Heavy metal Syrah right here.
Thank you @Mason Balistreri, you are missed. This one is for you. — 2 years ago
Catching up on some delayed bottle posts...no notes. (No tannins... delicious!)
Requested to drive up to my good buddies house to help him move his 8ft sheet metal brake to fashion some temporary gutters in advance of hurricane Henri, I was rewarded with wine, of course! — 3 years ago

Meaty, minty and peppery nose. Wow. So gamey and bloody. Pedal to the medal St. Joseph. Ultra traditional stuff here. Lots of olive and all on a serious granitic background. Palate is elegant and so refined but also has a wild side in that it’s super gamey, olivey and very supple and has good red berry sweetness. Really clean. These wines get cleaner every year without losing their feral edge. Very fine tannin. Also some youthful austerity. Needs air. I will be back. As this opens up exotic tea scents. Maybe oolong and Puer-eh. Great concentration and super silky and long. This is so good. 19 is also best vintage since 15. — a year ago
