Bourgogne Cote d'Or Pinot Noir 2019

In Texas we take breaks from red wine in chunks of 6 months. When you're out of practice, this is a great return ticket to Pinotland. Uncomplex, a reminder of the generosity and joy in a 56 degree pour.

Enveloping cherries and flecks of shaved cedar, bright. Fresh, vibrant, collected.

Lovely.

Nose: terrific old burgundy cherry and library dust. As this opens classic lilacs.

Palate: sweet cherry. Earthy.

Les Pluchots Volnay Pinot Noir 2017

Still a baby. Tastes primary. Big, juicy Volnay. With 6 hours of air, a more refined, minerally, spicy wine emerges. — 2 years ago

Lyle Fass
9.5

Been a few years and this is drinking so well now but no rush at all. Nose is sour cherry and mid season cherry and lovely earthy minerals. Very fragrant and a hint of confection. Palate is sleek and juicy and very refined. It is a bit short but air will lengthen it I think. Juicy and elegant airy lovely purity and balance. Awesome depth and grainy, elegant tannins. Needs air to go higher. Let’s see what happens.

9.4 to 9.5 overnight. Juicy and elegant and so finessed.

Les Caillerets Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1996

Mature 1er Cru Red Burgundy straight from the domaine. Thank God for bottles like this. I could attempt to describe it but best way to describe it is, existential. As time goes by there is less of this, and it makes each bottle that much more exciting. — a month ago

@Ericsson Is there anything better in the wine universe price wise than appropriately aged 1er Cru Red Burg?!?! Can't think of anything...the Holy Grail.

Clos de la Cave Volnay Pinot Noir 2013

Really nice villages Volnay. You can taste the stem inclusion here. Lifted aromatics, red fruits. Stems add an herbal element on the palate. 2013s continue to show well. — 2 years ago
