My first Batard-Montrachet and of course, it’s poured into a Solo cup because, Tailgate. Let’s go! The 2005 pours a deep golden color and on the nose, though it shows oxidative qualities, you can already perceive the concentration. Dried stone fruits mostly and pineapple “pate de fruit”, lemon, quince, and nuts. The palate was most fascinating. The attack was brighter with acid and chalk and more tart fruit but the finish was dense, round ripe and dry stone and pomaceous fruit that seemed to cling on the tonsils. Almost like two separate wines. Due to the concentration and acid, this probably has years to go but the oxidative character isn’t going away so I’d probably drink now. — 2 months ago

What a beautiful expression of Chardonnay in the glass. Both subtle and interesting on the nose, richness of color, and a perfectly balanced wine. And while the wine had a strong mineral foundation it was much more engaging than just a single note. So glad my cellar has several more bottles to enjoy in the years ahead. — 2 months ago

No formal notes . Medium yellow . Quite closed at first but a notable richness to it , ginger and yellow fruits , touch of struck match . On the palate really quite lively and fruited , lemon touches , very mineral and long on the palate . Good fresh acidity and good density . This is still quite young and benefited from time in the glass . From now and over the next 5-10 years . — 7 days ago
