Very well made. Bold wine. Nice tannin structure. Tons of acid. Drinking well right now. — 3 years ago

This is Sassella Vigna degli Apostoli, the winery’s top bottling. My first Valtellina - the alpine Nebbiolo.
The nose is reminiscent of a good Barolo with tart cherry, steeped black tea, oak spices, dried mushroom, and violet. The palate leans on the fruity side, lively, smooth and poised. Mellow tannins. Finishes long.
From a small single Cru in Sassella, considered by most the best sub zone of Valtellina Superior. Aged in large oak barrels for 26 months, steel tanks for 3, and bottle for 36. I believe only 2 vintages release so far, ‘15 being the latest one. — a year ago
