Still pretty strong tannins…the search for a tolerable Barbaresco continues — 7 months ago
Fantastic! A quintessential barbaresco where subtlety outshines power. Rose, earth, spice, dark but not heavy fruit. If this isn’t its prime, I can’t imagine it’s better. — 2 months ago

A bit light on fruit. Otherwise lovely. — a month ago
Fully mature and one of the better 93s I’ve tasted. One of the earlier vintages after Roagna bought La Roca e la Pira vineyards in Barolo, extending beyond their base in Barbaresco. The cork on this wine still has the imprint of Roagna Barbaresco, so the transition to Castiglione Falletto was still underway. Really wonderful wine with classic tertiary notes of tobacco, leather, smoke, and dark berry fruit. Tannins fully resolved. Good balance and depth. Time to drink up for sure, but very enjoyable. — 4 months ago

Opened nicely after about an hour’s decant. Reserved red and blue fruits, rose, tobacco and earth all balanced in still firm tannins. A fantastic wine worth the patience and likely would have had 5+ good years left in the bottle. — 2 days ago
