Serriger Herrenberg Auslese Riesling 2005

GK? Medium to deep gold at 20+ years, slightly viscuous, fruity and moderately sweet but with plenty of refreshing acidity. Elegant summer sipper — 2 months ago

Aux Vergelesses Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Nose of cherries, earth, pine, palate is cool and composed, maybe a bit reserved, distinctly red fruited with ample spice and stemmy grip. Feels like it needs more time but elegant — 6 months ago

Notes of plum, earth, soy sauce. I thought tannins were still fairly pronounced but not rough. Lovely pairing with our smoked abalone and black cod….. — 3 years ago

Les Perrières Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2017

Really nice overall, but definitely lost quite a bit from night 1 to 2. Pretty refined but with great earth and body. Has a bit of a rounded crunchy fruit quality in a nice way. Nice pairing with chicken thighs with feta and olives but was probably a better pairing a few years ago. Still nice and always appreciate bize. — 5 months ago

Les Talmettes Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Well integrated - velvety and fine tannins - fruit still with crispness - dried flowers in the nose. Subtle earth. Outstanding. — 8 months ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2020 pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart fruits: Morello cherry, raspberry, cranberry, roses, tar, cool spices and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. I found this bottle to be a little shy for the first 30min or so but opened up nicely by the end of our meal. Drink now through 2040. — 9 months ago

Usually interesting and fairly affordable. Solid Barolo primer.

A very unusual wine.

Nose: Malvasia but elegant. Floral. Tropical. Nice brine.

Palate: lightly tropical. But big mineraliaty. Good acidity.

Great briny finish.
A great pick.

Savigny-les-Beaune Pinot Noir 2017

Really a wonderful Burgundy for the always reliable (and now quite pricey) Bize. This 17 Savigny is in a great spot. High toned, balanced, refreshing acids, good mix of earth and fruit. Perfect pairing with the classic Sunday roast chicken with mushrooms. Tonight drinking better and more enjoyable than the several premier crus we have enjoyed from him in the past few years. — 3 years ago

Was a great surprise that this bottle was so in the zone. Some matchstick upon opening, but evolved to show vanilla, orange zest, tropical fruit and ample spice and acid. One of best bottles of Bize have consumed. — 3 years ago
