“Saint-Estèphe de Calon-Ségur” was the previous name of the third wine of Calon-Ségur, now known as “Le C de Calon-Ségur” (from 2019). The third wine of the estate is made with some of the younger vines and aged in thrice-used barrels for 16 months.
Popped and poured, enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2018 pours a deep ruby/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe black fruits: black currant, blackberry, black cherry, tobacco, cocoa and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a fairly easy wine to enjoy and has a more modern feel which serves it well for more early drinking. Drink now through 2028. — 2 years ago

As 2011 starting to reveal some great complexity but still has a youthful play on front. Lemon, mineral, rocky. — 5 years ago
Great dessert wine, esp for the price. — 6 years ago
Last bottle of this really good Rhône red. Been about a year since I’ve had it. Red fruit forward, but not jammy. Raspberry, dried herbs, black pepper. Medium-long finish with tartness and a little astringency. With mushroom kale quiche and side salad. — a month ago
Med light, med dry, med alcohol, low alcohol, med body. Very easy drinking tasty wine — a month ago
@Delectable Wine this is St. Joseph. super aromas, confectionary and berry fruit, granite and rock dust, structured and dense with sick minerals and amazing complexity and concentration. so so minerl and fine, needs time but a stunner. the length on all terres d arce is crazy. — 3 years ago
2019 vintage. Previously known as Château Capbern Gasqueton, but after the death of the last Gasqueton, the estate was sold (together with Calon-Ségur) to the French insurance company Suravenir. This 2019 Saint-Estèphe features a dark red colour with a purplish rim and an attractive perfume of blackberry, cassis , slightly smoked cedar wood and a hint of pepper. Concentrated layered black fruit, with fresh acidity that perfectly balances the surprisingly high alcohol (15% abv.). Terrific value at around 20 euros. — 4 years ago
Nice Chardonnay with a hint of mineralogy. For the price this is outstanding. — 6 years ago

2022 vintage. From a 375ml bottle. The St. Estèphe exception that proves the rule. Super-delicate cocoa powder with sumptuous richness throughout. Light-medium body. Cos is an outlier on the right. This is on the left. Nearly everything else is in between, hammer and nail 3D BDX...dry, dirty and distinctive. Excellent quality BDX to woo initiates with. 6.26.26. — 2 days ago
