Incredible purity. Herbaceous, eucalyptus, light tannin. In a lovely spot. — 7 days ago

Cordero di Montezemolo

Monfalletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

Just popped and double-decanted this to go with Ligurian braised rabbit. In my experience, this is a producer where you don’t have to worry much about whether the wine will be ready to drink because their wines tend to be delicious early and also age well in the mid-term. Right away, this shows scents of dried leather, macerated mid-cherry, gravelly earth. And dark spice. Surprisingly structured on the palate, with intense savory flavors complementing dark cherry. Lengthy, intense finish. This will keep for several more years but is really good now. — 8 days ago

The Calling Wines

Dutton Ranch Chardonnay 2023

Cork pull from the WCO fundraising event, and definitely a good win! Classic cali chard... Apple and pear, a bit of citrus, and a good amount of oak without overpowering butteriness. The kind of chard that helped me fall in love with wine 💕 — 9 days ago

Nickel & Nickel

John C. Sullenger Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Wow! Had to buy a few more bottles 😍
Deep purple color. Aromas of blackberry, red currant, herbs and baking spices. Perfectly balanced, red and black fruit with an oak finish.

Château L'Eglise-Clinet

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Very polished fruit. Great balance. Sophisticated and a little understated. Silky and in place. Very good, but lean in… this wine doesn’t shout — 7 days ago

Produttori del Barbaresco

Riserva Ovello Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Really stellar. Decanted for an hour and a half. Sandalwood and spice on the nose. Nice smooth mouthfeel with beautifully complex flavors of cherry, sandalwood, and some nice fall spices and woodsy herbs coming through on the palette. After some time in the glass, additional hints of crushed roses started to peep through. Just absolutely lovely now and went so well with braised short ribs, parmesan polenta, and wild mushrooms. The tannins are still bringing some astringency through into the finish though. I can see this being spectacular down the road once the tannins smooth out more, but this is at a good place right now. — 8 days ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2012

NOSE: muted, red fruit, oaky vanilla, graphite

TASTE: super smooth, the fruit is candied and dried (cherry and maybe some fig?), mild spices and earth and fragrant wood — still enough acidity to keep it balanced. I like more fruit and oomph, but it is good. 92.

Clos Saint Jean

Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2019

Excellent CDP, bright fruit (raspberries/strawberries) on the nose, follows through on the palate, well balanced - only drawback is a slight wooden feel on the back end but easy to look past. Opened up wonderfully after a couple hours. JW big fan. Powerful enough to stand up to red meat despite being a Rhône — 7 days ago

Medium gold color. Wine is still young. Super silky texture. Nose of camomile, butter, and minerals. High quality, refined wine. Give this a few years and it will give any top White Burg a run for its money! — 8 days ago

Idda

Sicilia Carricante 2021

Sourced from vines in Biancavilla, on Etna's southwest slope, and in Belpasso, on the southern slope between, aged in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels, aromas of stone fruits, floral and nutty notes. On the palate flavors of peach, pear and apricot with slight citrus notes, honey, almonds and floral notes, lively acidity. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, nutty and honey character with saline mineral notes. — 9 days ago
