Ripe, quite juicy fruit with candied red fruit aromas. On the palate medium acidity and red fruits with medium(+) ripe tannins, sweet spice flavours and a little cocoa. very good, alcoholic finish with a medium(+) finish. Overall fruitier than other #brunello which in some respects is a good thing because I found many Brunello’s oxidized (especially the Riservas) but that comes with a trade off and this wine had less complexity and less interesting tertiary aromas and flavors and a shorter finish than other wines. The #qpr is great though. Seemed more like a premium #rossodimontalcino than a Brunello. — 6 years ago

@"Odedi" not on TheSkipScale®️which is based on the premise that a wine at 89 points is practically unmarketable. My scale and yours are wildly different. 8.8=undrinkable. 8.9=passable but completely forgettable. 9.0=good. 9.1=very good 9.2=excellent. That way when I go back and look at my stuff, I know what I was thinking 🙃

I’m a big Gruet fan (#QPR) , and this wine is my favorite of theirs I’ve had. @Ryan Vento pointed out tonight he prefers the Blanc de Noirs over this because of the prominent green apple notes in this one, but it’s exactly why I love it! — 5 years ago

Dark crimson in colour. Some meaty charcuterie aromas. Medium weight and spicy with savoury berry fruit. Love this style. No expected black pepper - probably because of the riper fruit and warmer year. No overt oak influence because of the use of large format oak casks. Most enjoyable. — 8 years ago
