On the palate the wine is decadent and opulent at the same time. There’s dark chocolate, blueberry compote, sweetwood, with backbone acidity. The finish persists, and persists some more, reminiscent of raisin and dry fig. This fortified wine is from hundred percent Napa Cab, from the stellar 2008 vintage, from single vineyard site, and rated 95-99 points by renowned critics. Jayson Woodbridge made the wine in a Port style pushing the boundaries of conformity. That alone deserves praise but I can’t help considering it a cellar trophy… There to be admired and talked about but ready to deliver pure hedonism the moment it is poured.

Dark ruby coloration. Some translucency- classic Pinot appearance. On the nose, cherry, dark berry, plum, forest floor, earth, and minerals. On the palate, cherry, plum, dark berry, cola, fruit forward. Jammy. Nice medium to full body with velvety mouthfeel. Nicely balanced tannins and longish finish. — 2 years ago

Double decant and pour(little fine sediment). A striking dark magenta color with some bricking. On the nose: dark fruit, herbaceous, worn leather, touch of stewed meat, sweet vanilla toast. Taste: silky, rich, nice depth wine with dark cherry/plum, soil, crushed gravel, dried herbs, smoke, and a peppery chocolate espresso medium plus finish. YUM!!! — 4 days ago
