Dandelion Vineyards

Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz

This is my go-to wine after work or as a night cap. It is smooth and soft… so easy on the palate. Everyone loves this wine. — a month ago

Rockford

Basket Press Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016

I received a bottle of Rockford as a 40th birthday gift, a wine I wasn’t familiar with at the time. After five years of aging, I opened it in the company of good friends – and what an experience! A rich and well-balanced wine, with intense flavors of berries and plums that really impressed. Wow, a wine that captivates with its harmony and depth. — 2 months ago

Amon-Ra Barossa Valley Unfiltered Shiraz 2010

Rich, supple and delicious. A prime example of what the Barossa does so well, particularly in a good vintage. Blackberry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and coffee grounds. Barb thought too much coconut oak but I didn’t think it was excessive. The next night ripe plum and oak- rich and mouth filling - through to the mid 2030’s. Your choice - rich and fruit driven or developed savoury notes or somewhere in between. — 4 months ago

Torbreck Vintners

Woodcutter's Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

So jammy on the nose, fruit bomb for sure. Blueberry, boysenberry, and blackberry bramble. Notes of charred wood and meat. A hint of eucalyptus. Nice spice. Medium acid, high alcohol and medium plus tannin. I think it would do well with a few years and a nice barbecued hunk of meat. — a month ago

Barossa Shiraz 2021

Intense aromas of dark cherry, chocolate and blueberry. Abundant on mulberry flavors, mocha and fresh cut beets, a bit hint of medley jelly, mouthfeel is on the fresh side of dark fruits with solid taste of cacao coating on the back end of the palate. Not overly lingering finish. — 2 months ago

Penfolds

Bin 150 Marananga Barossa Valley Shiraz 2010

The first vintage of Bin 150 was 2008 so this 2010 was probably the best to that point. Very dark Ruby in colour - impenetrable. The nose has blood plum and blackberry with mocha and cocoa aromas. The palate is rich, dense and full bodied. Opulent with blackberry and dark chocolate. Built to last for decades. A very Barossa Penfolds Shiraz. — 4 months ago

First Drop Wines

Mother's Milk Shiraz 2019

Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of blackberry, tar, forest floor and black licorice. Flavors of dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, baking spices and black cherry. Long velvety finish, balanced acidity and smooth tannins. Fruit forward and bombastic, but also nicely textured and somewhat savory. Excellent value. — 2 months ago

The 96 Hill of Grace was the better wine & group liked it where the 14 was mostly primary & would need more time

RWT BIN 798 Barossa Valley Shiraz 2018

Deep ruby , thin ruby rim . More discreet on the nose than the explosive Grange . More blackberry , dark plum , with a slight toasty note . Dark blackberry , cassis, red plum , good acidity and medium bodied , slightly more spiced palate . Balanced acidity and quite suave polished medium tannins . Just a hint of warmth on the good length finish . Compared to the Grange this comes across as slightly lighter in body and intensity with less of the Grange’s mineral complexity. Again requires time , but with food drank well , better in 5-10 years and will last well a further 10-15 . — 4 months ago
