The 2015 gets all up in your face with some rather, uh, aggressive odors. We’ve been assured via some focused keyword googling that this is probably due to the Brettanomyces not being filtered out, and completely in-line with the au naturel dogma of Riberach. So, with that mystery solved, this wine is hands down a personal favorite. Meaty and full bodied with enough pep to keep the taste buds entertained. I’m not even afraid to admit I might actually like the “bohemian” bouquet... — 6 years ago
Once again I indulge in this pretty sin... Cherry, almond, Raisin, pencil lead, maybe chocolate too? The palate is tremendous : it goes in every direction with a huge acid backbone, a superlative width, a dense and silky matter with a soft touch on the sides, a bright fruit which shows off all along, a bit of drying tannins that kick off a fantastic finish with fruit, a bit of bitterness, some raisins and a indisputable length. Man I love this one. This is bohemian rhapsody by Queen — 6 years ago

Opened this to put the kibosh on Alabama. And it smells like it just might have those powers. Founded by John Alban in 1989, Alban Vineyards is the first American winery and vineyard established exclusively for Rhône varietals. Jeb Dunnuck said “One of the best entry-level wines out there is John's 2012 Syrah Patrina, and it competes with many top cuvees.” I wholeheartedly agree. Patrin is a gypsy word for leaf and grass blades. By mounding up patrin in specific configurations called Patrina, Gypsies mark secret trails that kinsmen can follow to special gathering places. Patrina guide these nomads to the site of what starts out as a simple get together underscored with wine and song. These bohemian celebrations of nothing in particular inevitably escalate with great abandon into wildly hedonistic carousing.
Aromatically virile. Intense aromas of black raspberry and kirsch, star anise, white flowers, violets, pepper, and baking spices. The palate is equally potent and sports a black fruit infused with red fruit character. The lush and ripe fruit is buttressed by layers of licorice, lavender pastille, chocolate, and cured meats. An all-time favorite of mine. — 9 years ago

This wine was produced when Led Zeppelin released Kashmir, and Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody. Letting that sink in as I swirl the glass.
The cork was slightly depressed, and it fell apart, so I had to do some first aid. All is well. The wine pours out a very deep garnet at its core, with tawny edges. So far so good.
The nose is old, and I was afraid of the musty notes, but I think it's healthy tertiary aromas, not spoilage. Mushroom and forest floor. I don't have a lot of experience with 50 year old wine. Hey, I was made the same year this wine was!
The palette is excellent. Plenty of fruit present.. cherry, candied apricot, slate, and Flintstone vitamins. It tastes young! If I had this blind I would guess it's 20 years old.
No sediment or silt. This still has hefty acidity and lingering, cedar-like tannins. Crazy. I've had current bottles bottles of Chateau Caruel, which is an inexpensive wine, and they just don't make them like they used to. This wine is legitimately elegant and delicious. 30 minutes in, and I'm wondering where I can buy a case. What a fun experience!
Listening to Led Zeppelin, duh. — 10 months ago

Intense and fresh aromas of orange blossoms, citrus and honey. Crisp and elegant; round with balanced acidity. Whenever you uncork a Buenos Aires wine, you will be transported to streets filled with bohemian style neighborhoods overflowing with poetry and colors. You’ll discover wines that seem to sing tangos full of verses inviting you to dance. Welcome to the place where cultures merge together. Splash wines. — 6 years ago

Open it and give it some time to breathe or it will argue with you. Not your typical new world fare and distinct. Dark fruit and a beautiful finish. Eat with red meat and pour it in a Bordeaux glass. It’s a well traveled auburn haired bohemian California girl that whispers in your ear in French. — 7 years ago

Cool climate Pinot Noir, a blend from 7 different West Somoma Coast vineyards including Red Car Estate, Platt and Bohemian Station. 10% new and 90% neutral oak. Wild yeasts only. Very attractive nose unmistakably Pinot Noir. Ripe red fruit, very subtle spices, silky tannin and fresh balancing acidity. Medium-bodied with lots of finesse, not unlike Chambolle-Musigny. Delicious and good value. 2013 vintage. Abv. 13,3%. — 9 years ago
