2022 Etna Rosso santo spirito: light dark soil, very loose and sandy. lighter cherry and fruitier nose, on the palate, cherry, heavy minerals. Strong tannins. Very popular wine. Very deep vines. — 24 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2020 Siccagno pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of blackberry, black cherry, pomegranate, dry leaf tobacco, wood varnish, and volcanic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a fresh, if not slightly volatile Siccagno but it was lovely with cappellacci on a warm summer day. Drink now through 2035. — 5 days ago
Oldest Benanti vineyard. Planted in 1910. I grafted pre-phloxerra. 90% Nero mascalese and 10% nerelo cappucio. — 24 days ago
Do not pass up an opportunity to buy this wine. Expensive Nerello but worth every cent. Tart red fruit with smoke and scorched earth. Complex but very easy drinking. — a month ago

2020 Pietra marina - Etna Bianca superiore. Golden straw coloration. From Mila, birthplace of carricante, why it’s superiore. On the nose, citrus, herbaceous, salinity and minerality. On the palate, rich mouthfeel, citrus, herbs, salinity from the sea, and a finish of herbs (tarragon?) and minerals. Interesting- combo of Chablis and Chardonnay. Paired with mushroom and spring onion mayonnaise. — 24 days ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Medium Ruby with aromas of berry fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of cherry, raspberry and red plum with pepper spice, burnt toast and herbs. Fine tannins, medium finish ending with raw fruit, spice and earthy character. Nice now! — 10 days ago
