Le Mont Moelleux Vouvray Chenin Blanc 1985

Pretty remarkable. I’ve never been able to try an old one of these before, but I’ve always understood. They aged like champs and this thing was crazy. It tasted and looked like it could’ve been bottled last week. If you have any that have been well stored there’s absolutely no rush. — 8 days ago

Le Mont Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2010

I tasted this same 2010 about a year ago and wondered it would improve with further aging. I think the answer is yes.

This time around it shows more layered profile, with bruised apple, honeysuckle, beeswax, citrus peel, and wet stone leading the nose. The palate is broad and textured. Acidity has shaved off some hard edges, yet remains focus and intense. Engaging long finish.

Domaine Huet

Le Mont Vouvray Chenin Blanc

Mineral, slight kumquat, citrus, stone fruit.

Lemon curd, mineral, stony/gravelly, just ripe stonefruit, slight orange blossom.

Slatey and clean. Nice fruit character. Good ageability.

Cave de Saumur

Les Pouches Saumur Chenin Blanc 2018

Cool simple bottle and label. A screw-top with class. Color is golden straw. Aromas of lemons and honey. Hint of freshly scrubbed flagstone patios. Flavors are lemon water, honeydew melon and jasmine tea. This is like all the good things in non-buttery Chardonnay mixed with the minerality and zing of Sauv Blanc. It’s fuller, denser and more elegant than most CA Chenin Blanc I’ve had. It’s also a white that seems to age nicely. If I could find it somewhere around here, it would join the short list for go to whites. — 20 days ago

La Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle

Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle Prié Blanc

In addition to its unique bottle shape and colorful, eye catching label, the 2023 Blanc de Morgex et de la Salle, is
also known for being produced at Europe’s highest vineyard: the Valle d’Aosta region in the upper northwest of Italy, on the borders of France and Switzerland, just a chip shot from the Summit of world-famous Mont Blanc.

The clear, light straw appearance is followed by persistent lemon/lime/floral aromatics and flavors. It is sourced from pre phylloxera rootstock of the indigenous Prié Blanc grape.

It is well balanced and structured with ample fruit and acidity; Light bodied, but somewhat fleshy, with a lingering touch of skin contact (oak?) at the long mouth coating finish. A most unique wine from a singular site. Worth a try if you can find it.

Le Mont Demi-Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2019

Perfectly balanced. Subbed with hot smoked salmon, which otherwise is hard to pair with. I cannot remember a better white wine. $47. — 2 months ago

This was stunning. May have been my favorite bottle I’ve ever had.

Hay, butterscotch, spiced apple. Just magical.

Anne de K Brut Blanc des Blancs Crémant d'Alsace Chardonnay Blend

Floral, green apple, toasted biscuits. Cremant’s will almost always be better than any Champagne you’ll pick off the shelf and at a fraction of the price! — 7 months ago
