I always say you have to subtract several points off a JS rating but this one you only have to subtract a couple. This is pretty though: raspberries, jammy, dry and acidic. Balanced. — 2 years ago

Château Belles-Graves

Lalande de Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Very nice Bordeaux with tons of black fruit, some earthy grippiness, and soft tannins making for a plush overall feel. It’s well balanced and enjoyable but not as complex as I would prefer at this price point. — 5 months ago

Belles Grives Morgon Gamay 2019

Light-brewed tea, mushroom, fresh rosemary, dark plum and cherry, ripe strawberry on the nose. Subtle notes of white tea, rosemary, strawberry, ripe red cherry, baked button mushrooms on the palate. Nice light Beaujolais with enough weight to stand up to some light meats or hearty pastas. — 10 months ago

Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard

Les Belles Filles Pernand-Vergelesses Chardonnay 2018

Chilled this burgundy felt restrained, minimal, and one dimensional. As it opened up though, paired with a delicious bouillabaisse, escargot and the best foie gras I’ve ever had, thus started to really come into its own. Medium body, a refined minerality but with delicious notes of crisp apple, baking spice, and an some richer, pastry like notes on the finish, this wine truly came into its own with some warmth and time. Not too rich, not too dry, a perfect balance of crisp fruit, minerality, and baked richness for shellfish dishes with a tomato base. — 3 years ago
