Château Haut Lalande

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

I think this is peaking. From a marginal year but really nice. Lots of cedar and a little roasted peanut note augmenting some nice, mellow cassis fruit on the nose. A big whack of intense flavors on initial entry, with tannins still there but softening. A teensy bit drying on the finish, but damn this is nice with grilled butterflied leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary. — 5 days ago

As you probably know, I love Sociando Mallet, though I prefer them older, but that’s just WTSO Al preference. But their wines are always solid and also reasonably priced by Bordeaux standards!

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

A bretty nose… gravel and iron and sour black cherry. Some lush fruit underpinning. Intense on the palate. Perhaps too much Brett? — 8 days ago

Château Tronquoy-Lalande

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

2011 vintage. 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and 11% Petit Verdot. This property was bought by the Bouygues brothers in 2006, the same year when they bought Montrose (up to first growth quality these days, and I gave the 2020 a perfect score). They made huge investments to increase the quality, and this 2011 is a very good effort in a much maligned vintage that remains in the shadow of the great 2010 and 2009 vintages. While the tannins have a slightly rough edge to them, it is balanced and satisfying, and a testimony to Bordeaux's ageing capacities, even in lesser vintages. An attractive food wine, and very good value too. Abv. 13%. — 17 days ago

Château Haut-Bailly

Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 2024

This guy is blooming. Very fine and complex nose with indefinite notes but of ample bouquet. It enters serious in the mouth without missing any bit of intensity.
Actually gaining more and more focus the longer the aftertaste.
Literally a beautiful finish.
Linger and simply wow.
Just 96 because the intensity and the weight is not quite consistent but this is a gorgeous wine.

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Réserve de la Comtesse Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

A 2nd Grand Cru Classé 1855 Chateau located in the southern end of Pauillac that produces powerful wines with amazing structure wines.

V.2018 was beautifully blended at 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35%Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8%Petit Verdot, that delivers high-powered notes of espresso, tobacco leaves, and dense-black fruits on the nose.
Full-bodied, rich and velvety with an exquisite silken mouthfeel that is so signature of Pauillac wines, very plushy and opulent, yet well-priced and worth every single sip to the very last drop.

Age worthy to a decade if patient. However; literally couldn’t wait for it and had it all in a single seat!

I have never had a bad bottle of this second wine. Even a 1992 that I had a few years back is probably one of the 15-20 very best wines I've had.

Thanks for sharing that Daniel. I was very surprised with this label and ended up buying 3 more bottles for cellaring. This Vintage is still climbing to its peak. Pretty good!
