Excellent. Smooth with a touch of spice. Dark cherry, dark plum, raspberry with a hint of spice and tabacco. Wonderfully balanced and earthy. Went well with a spiced filet mignon and earlier with a hard parmesan. Opened beautifully over the course of 12-24 hours — 8 days ago
Really quite good. Drinks well above its price. Fragrant nose. Medium body. Classic. — 8 days ago
Shared by our host. Great wine in a lesser vintage. Nose of tar, black currant, cedar, cigar box. It's aged, but it's still kicking. The palate shows some acid drive, some width, some nice red and black berry notes, some really dusty tannins that are drying in the rear and a very long finish with a savoury thing in the rear. Great tasting experience. Thank you, Nicolas ! — 12 days ago
2016 vintage. Cantemerle is always a good idea if you want value for money. Like many left bank Bordeaux in this great vintage, it tends to close down a bit, so give it some time in the glass or decant. The nose slowly develops after an hour, with a mix of black and red fruit, classy cedar notes, and flowers. As usual, it's all about elegance, but it doesn't lack power either. Still needs a few more years to reveal all its complexity, but very good already. Ab. 13%. — 20 hours ago
Prodigious stuff—acid is absolutely ripping and the color is the only hint that this is a 15 year old wine. Long, long life ahead — 8 days ago

Christmas Day. Another wonderful experience with 1989 Bordeaux, this time La Lagune from the Haut-Médoc, a wine that is particularly ageworthy and on this occasion absolutely singing. Fresh, sappy fruit and youthful vigour on the palate, this was a clean, pristine bottle and utterly drinkable – it just about lasted throughout dinner. — 12 days ago
