Château Saint-Pierre

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend

2005 vintage. Beautiful nose, with cassis, blackberries, cedar wood, a little smokiness, and flowers. Seriously concentrated, combining power and elegance. Layers of fruit in a tight but ripe tannic structure. Showing beautifully now, but it should age effortlessly for decades. Classic Saint-Julien. — 4 months ago

2018: Well balanced, still young Burgundian wine. Fresh, clean, great nose and palate from start. — 4 months ago

Preface St. Joseph Syrah 2021

Very different St Joseph. Tons of brambly dark fruit. Nice acid and tension on the finish. But oddly lacking in tannin and structure. Savory and I appreciate the 13% abv but I think it’s missing a dimension given the price point. — 2 months ago

La Croix de Beaucaillou

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Really a wonderful St J and a crazy value as a 2nd wine. Lovely pairing with roast rack of lamb with garlic / rosemary / mustard. In a good window but could take more time honestly. Wonderful acid, quite deep fruit, long finish, tannins still very there, delicious. — 4 months ago
