Another Saint Emilion I've never had before, with a hokey gold medal sticker on the side of the bottle. This has so much hair on it upon initial pouring. Having a few sips and coming back to it later. Massive blackberry and plum flavors, very bitter wet leaves, pumice stone, high acid, high tannin, high alcohol pronunciation. It's way too amplified- maybe it will chill the eff out in an hour.

Pretty light red, fruity, peppery, and well stretched on freshness and minerality. A discreet breeding tip brings a certain refinement while remaining very greedy. Can age.

Nose is old school, with cooling clay earthiness in the fore, and some gorgeously pure and deep cassis and dark cherry fruit peeking out from underneath. In the mouth it’s still a bit tightly wound (I popped and quickly double decanted, so it hasn’t gotten much air yet). The flavors are deep, still a hefty tannic load. But not so backward I can’t enjoy it now. Clearly will benefit from several more years in a cool cellar. — 4 days ago
