2022 vintage. One of the Castel family estates since 1973 ( before the estate was known as Domaine de Tartuguière). With 144 hectares of vines,this is the largest contiguous vineyard in the Médoc. Vanessa Trouy has been in charge since 2002. Dark red colour. Needs a bit of time to open up, give it 15 minutes to release attractive aromas of strawberries, flowers, nutmeg and oak. Good fruit concentration in the mouth, with a solid tannic structure,fresh acidity and nice length. This will need a few years to show all its potential, and has serious ageing potential. Fresh nose of red and black fruits with light spices.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with mild complexity.
Showing raspberries, black currants, cooked cherries, spices, light oak, licorice and black pepper.
Tangy finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This Mourvèdre from Bandol is still very young, yet tasty and already enjoyable, even by itself.
Tannic, and needs 10 years in the bottle to mature properly.
Good by itself or with food.
A blend of 81% Mourvedre, 9% Grenache, 8% Cinsault and 2% Carignan. Aged in large oak barrels for 18 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

"Looks like a tricky one"... if I had a dollar for every time I heard that.
This is Chateau Latour Martillac, Graves, 1975.
This wine is slightly over the hill, but has survived 50 years. Just like me.
I'm assuming this is Cabernet, Merlot, and maybe something else. Fine, pale brick color. The nose is lively and generous with fruit, though there is a bit of grandma's basement.
The palette is driven by tertiary flavors. Mushroom, truffle, wet leaves, and pencil tend to drown out a bit of dark cherry. A little astringent. Maybe some Petit Verdot.
I wouldn't kick this out of bed for eating crackers, but I would prefer it with some lamb.
