Remarkably deep color with brown edge. Soft red fruit with hint of tannin. May develop more over next few years. — 24 days ago
Not sure a score is objective when it’s a birth year wine and you’re as bloody old as I am! Nonetheless, spectacular, remarkably fresh and pure. Luscious after 25 mins, rainbow of red berry and camphor, blackcurrant, subtle notes of tea and cassis, chocolate. Last sip was on the back of my palate for minutes. Old but good indeed! Very nice Bordeaux with tons of black fruit, some earthy grippiness, and soft tannins making for a plush overall feel. It’s well balanced and enjoyable but not as complex as I would prefer at this price point. — 15 days ago
2011 vintage, so low expectations, but wine is stunning. Grill aggregation unfolds into violets and cypress, bacon and porcini. Timber yard resins, reishi coffee, baking chocolate, burnt parchment, gunpowder tea, and dried rose petal. Soft, black and bing cherry serrated by black blades of dark tobacco, black currant, cassis, smoldering acanthus, crisp oregano, cardamom, and tart blueberry. Color is brick, edifice is showing cracks, but architecture intact. Don’t hold. Slay and ascend.

The 2016 La Conseillante is a benchmark wine for the estate, perhaps the first where winemaker Marielle Cazaux really made her mark. It has a divine bouquet that halts you in your tracks with its purity. Almost Burgundian in style, black fruit intermixes with blue, just a background scent of incense - less vanillary than before. The palate is marked by svelte tannins, cashmere in texture with just a trace of white pepper. The finish has a welcome sense of edginess with hints of graphite on the aftertaste. It's just the opening chapter in what will be an awesome Pomerol. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the Icons of Bordeaux dinner at Legacy Records in New York. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2024)

It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Nice nose with red and black fruits, light oak, tobacco leaf, light mildew, cola and dark coffee.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, earth, vegetables, forest floor and black pepper.
Short finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 27 year old is still drinking very nicely, although definitely not at its peak anymore. Complex and engaging.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime.
I Had this same vintage a little while ago, and this bottle drinks much better. At this age, the condition of the specific bottle is very imperative.
Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. Always nice to drink these kind of old wines.
12.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
