Ruby dress. Discreet nose, red fruits, griotte, fig, spicy, smoke, charcoal, tobacco. Half-deep bodied. Melted tannins. The bouquet is fine, but the acidity is average, it's to be drunk now. Needs at least one hour of aeration to deliver. Not the lushest Brunello I've drunk (vintage effect?) But it's elegant.
Robe rubis profonde. Nez discret, fruits rouges, griotte, figue, épicé, fumée, charbon, tabac. Bouche demi-corsée, profonde. Tanins fondus. Le bouquet est fin, mais l’acidité est moyenne, c’est à boire maintenant. A besoin d’une heure d’aération au moins, pour se livrer. Pas le Brunello le plus luxuriant que j’ai bu (effet millésime?) mais c’est élégant. — 2 years ago
Third 90 Ponsot bottle served blind. This is bright tawny and translucent. When compared to the CSD served before it, this is more masculine with a dark cherry nose that is tight for the first 4-5 hours. By the time it’s served, though, it’s opened up and comes on as a rich and very powerful glass of juice. In addition to the regular notes of bing cherry, dark earth and rhubarb, this adds some mocha and a little cherry cola as well. Has a Rousseau-like precision in its delivery. From where it started to where it ended ~9 hours after opening, this evolved and improved the most. Great experience! (Bday 8 of 12) — 3 years ago
Beaujolais pleasure with the intensity usually found on Saint-Amour. Notes of sour cherry red fruits, rose, peony, and a certain concentration that will appeal to those who like more structured wines. It is nonetheless a generous wine with immediate pleasure. Very / too easy to drink
Très/trop facile à boire — 4 years ago
Bright reddish tawny color, translucent. Fruit forward nose. Has a sweetness to it. Notes of dark fruit, spice, dark earth. Not overly fruity in the mouth - a bit dry even. I guess 88 Faiveley Griotte or similar Chambertin. Got the 88 right. With air over the evening, this developed more DRC like notes including roses and salt, Asian spice, etc. — 2 years ago
Beautiful purple shinny dress. A lively and concentrated wine, with freshness, and the racy charms of gamay in Beaujolais: Notes of cherry, strawberry. Crunch and a great potential for evolution.
Belle robe brillante violine. Un vin vif et concentré, avec de la fraîcheur, et les charmes racés du gamay en Beaujolais: Notes de griotte, fraise. Du croquant et un beau potentiel d’évolution. — 3 years ago
The Château Brûlesécaille 2016 is comprised of 55% Merlot and a little under 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cabernet Franc and Malbec making up the balance. In the glass, the wine has a glistening dark royal purple color, almost opaque at the center, with flashes of magenta just at the edge. The classic Right Bank nose unfurls gradually with aromas of sun-warmed black raspberries, griotte cherries, and sweet white tobacco, along with fleeting suggestions of eucalyptus and exotic spices as the wine evolves in the glass. On entry, the wine is meaty and succulent, building to a burly, lingering, rich mid-palate, loaded with a cornucopia of black and red fruit flavors that echo the nose; lightly seasoned with pine needles, toasted coconut, and baker’s chocolate – all framed in sinuous, assertive, ripe fine-grained tannins. Almost California-like in concentration and texture, with dusty minerality and fresh Right Bank acidity that carries the flavors through a long, elegant finish.
