Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2003 pours a deep ruby with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some light light sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark fruits, green bell pepper, leather, tobacco, earth, and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and satisfying. This was pretty impressive right out of the gate and seemed to show really well despite the challenging (historically hot at the time) vintage. Drink now through 2044. — 8 days ago
Opened four hours prior to service and decanted for 45 minutes before returning to the bottle. The 1982 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate stating of the tears. There remained some sediment despite being decanted. On the nose, the wine is vinous with an intriguing combination of ripe and desiccated (mostly) fruits: cassis, brambles, green bell pepper, leather, tobacco and a hint of baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is elegant, refined and satisfying. This is a classic expression of Margaux and certainly at peak. Sublime. Drink now through 2032+. — 9 days ago
A treat to share with @Logan Edwards , this wine is still youthful at 35 years. Nice plum and steelish tones under the ripe dark berry. Probably good for another 35 years — 5 days ago
A pure and delicate L’ Evangile, and drinking this wine in a former monastery is a joyful and serene moment. #RestaurantBroederenklooster #topchef — 4 days ago
Yellow gold with copper hue, quite thin pale rim . Caramelised pineapple, saffron , vanilla , creme brûlée , quite rich and decadent. On the palate again quite rich , barley sugar , creme brûlée and saffron, just enough acidity to balance and a little alcoholic warmth . On the medium length finish , lemon rind and a touch of caramel . This is probably at peak now , just misses a little vibrancy , freshness, however successful for the vintage . Drink now and over the next 10- 15 years — 7 days ago
Terrific example of a high quality Sauternes with lemon zest, peach, apricot and pineapple plus dried apricot, honey, beeswax, saffron, ginger, vanilla and butterscotch. Excellent acidity to balance the restrained sweetness of the wine. Still young with plenty of room to develop. — 10 days ago
Opened around 8pm the evening prior, double decanted and left in room temperature until service on Friday evening. In total, this was opened 24hours before service. The 1995 pours a beautiful garnet with transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate stating of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with surprisingly boozy dark fruit. Brambles, cassis, bell pepper, licorice, spearmint and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long with great acidity. Overall, remarkably youthful. While it’s certainly ready to go, it will likely continue some positive evolution over the next couple of decades. Drink now with a long decant through 2045. — 9 days ago

Hmm. 🤔 wasn’t able to connect with this, expectingly great wine. Actually first direct out of the bottle it was promising. Strong oak notes with vibrant dark red fruit underneath it. But over the next hour, the oak flavors started to be integrated more but the acidity became very prominent and made the wine rather single note, diluted, lacking depth, acidic tasting. So needless to say. Disappointing experience. Maybe it was not the right day 🤔. — 2 days ago
