District 4

Philip Togni Vineyard

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Dark red purple. Classic Cabernet nose and palate of cassis and underripe blackberry with oak and very gentle bell pepper undertones. Medium tannins and medium plus-ish acidity. Old school style Napa Cabernet with an excellent balance between fruit and structure. Excellent match for that porterhouse. Drink now through 2032. — 8 days ago

Smith Madrone

Spring Mountain District Riesling 2017

Helping a chef with a Smith Madrone tasting. This is a very nice Riesling that exhibits apples, peach and some bartlett pear. Just a bit of acidity and you will get a fair hint of oil on the nose, not in a bad way. We gave it a good 1 hr decant and didn't serve it too chilled. Light acidity and a full mouthfeel. 7 year bottle aged and drinking nicely. — 21 days ago

Baldacci Family Vineyards

Black Label Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Little comparative tasting between the 17’ and 12’ vintages:
2017- deep ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, raspberry, flint and cedar. Youthful wine, loads of black fruit on the palate, spice and vanilla notes.
2012- deep ruby with garnet rim. Aromas of blackberry and blueberry. Black currant and leather and oak finish. Solid.

@Jay Kline For sure. We've had some '78 Petite Sirah direct from the winery cellar, amazing stuff. I would have liked to open a CASK 23, but they're all responsibly in off-site storage. SLV seemed like the appropriate pull since it was a Spurrier tasting wine back in the day.
@Norman Gennaro Thanks 🙏

Chimney Rock

Elevage Stags Leap District Merlot Blend 2019

Blend of about 39% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petit Verdot with the rest Cabernet Franc, aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak, deep Ruby, purple edges with aromas of dark red fruits, oak and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and currants with cacao and herb spice. Full dusty tannins, opens nicely, long finish ending with fruit, oak, vanilla spice and mineral character. Nice! Drinking well now, will still age. — 21 days ago
