Domaine Taupenot-Merme

Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2020

Delectable Wine
9.6

The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is understated on the nose, unfolding in the glass with fine delineation and poise, becoming more floral with aeration but never impeding across the pure red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and fresh, on another level of freshness compared to its peers with a prolonged, lightly spiced finish. This is one of the standout wines from this Grand Cru - superb. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

Incredibly fresh, concentrated and balanced. Perfumed nose of cranberries, raspberries, hint of underbrush, roses, white pepper. Extra long finish that accentuates the balance of floral, fruit and secondary aroma. Great effort. — 2 years ago

Morey Saint-Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru is showing a little reduction on the nose; there’s some charry oak here, not quite as clean as its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine balance and finer tannins than Taupenot-Merme's La Riotte. This shows impressive delineation and elegance toward the finish, which is persistent and satisfying. An excellent Morey-Saint-Denis. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. Bel-Air Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

2017 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 30 mins. Medium-heavy body but starting to thin out slightly. Taupenot-Merme is one of the "bigger bodied" Burgs. Wanted more earth but got more spice instead. Decent compromise. Seems like another 3-4 years would find this hitting the optimal sweet spot. 8.23.24. — 2 months ago

Charmes-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2016

This was fairly tight when opened so gave it 90 min of air where it showed black cherry, berry fruits with dried herbs, spice, crushed rock, mineral & violet — a year ago

As with the same vintage and vineyard as the Taupenot-Merme enjoyed alongside this, it seems to have everything but finesse. — 3 years ago
