Tensley

Turner Vineyard Syrah 2007

Less richness and ripeness than the Thompson, this shows a bit of green tobacco aromas, northern Rhône-like, Turner was, I believe, the coolest climate of the Syrah vineyards Joey has used (and was always my favorite Tensley Syrah), should effortlessly age 7-10 more years, long, lingering finish, terrific!! — 7 days ago

Le Vieux Donjon

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2016

Medium ruby with pronouned aromas of violets, fresh, slightly cooked strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, red plum, cedar wood, christmas cake, and earth. On the palate, ripe and slightly chalky tannins along with high fruit concentration paint a full bodied wine with a long, lingering finish. I can easily imagine my score increasing as it matures, gaining even more finesse and complexity. The 2016 Vieux Donjon is a head turner. Drink from 2026 to 2041 — 2 years ago

Château d'Armailhac

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2020 d'Armailhac has all the fruit of the en primeur wine, and all the tannin too, almost like a barrel sample. I imagine the 2020 is going to need at least a few years to shed some of that tannic clout. Dark red cherry, red plum, pomegranate, blood orange, iron, white pepper and mint literally saturate the palate. The 2020 is a dense, plush d'Armailhac. It's a real head-turner. Classic stuff, probably been brewing this same recipe for centuries. Smells & tastes like it would be heavy, but it goes down easy and is surprisingly light on its feet. Lightly malty, no frills old school Ale — 6 months ago

Meritage Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

One of the best I’ve had. Better than the 1988 Tina Turner concert! 2006 vintage drinks like a cab but way better — 2 years ago

Château Simone

Palette Red Rhone Blend 2012

In some ways, Chateau Simone reminds me of some of the more austere vintages of Musar. Always a head turner due to its class. Lovely. — 5 years ago
