A. Rafanelli

Unfiltered Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2000

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2000 pours a deep garnet/purple with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated red and black fruits: mixed brambles, black cherry, some fruit leather, some actual leather, pipe tobacco, black pepper, some mushrooms and decomposing earth and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin (integrated) and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose where the fruit comes across a bit more desiccated and no less delicious. The finish is long. Drink now. — a day ago

Bevan Cellars

Dry Stack Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2024

2024 vintage. Lighter but with concentration for days. A different style with a suggestion of limoncello. Generally dislike Sauvie B but this came to play and was the standout of this year’s Bevan Cellars releases I tasted (3 whites/7 reds). 08.22.25 — 2 months ago

Sonoma County Fumé Blanc Sauvignon Blanc

Very good for us, our fav US S blsnc so far. Acidity and fruit but better balanced softer w some minerality. Label says Sonoma and Valley Floor. Label says intent is Loire style. No oak maturation. $15ish, Total Wine. — 2 months ago

Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Such a good wine. One of the best in CA. Love the herbs and lighter bodied nature of this one. Cedar, purple fruits, herbs, so fresh but also such good fruit. — 8 days ago

A little overrated. Great stuff with remarkable authenticity and rusticity. It goes places Napa/Sonoma generally doesn’t.

Grgich Hills Estate

Fumé Blanc Napa Valley Dry Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Pale lemon with complex aromas of fresh ripe citrus and tropical fruits with zesty floral notes. On the palate flavors of peach, lime citrus and melon with lemongrass and floral herb notes. Long finish ending with juicy fruit, herb and citrus notes, lively acidity with mineral character. Outstanding! Will reward with a few years of age! — 21 days ago

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2020 Classico pours a garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherry, pomegranate, red flowers, old wood, and dry gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. My first time trying the 2020 vintage of Produttori’s Classico and it’s another really lovely, benchmark example of Barbaresco. Drink now through 2040. — 2 months ago

Nice. 2020 more approachable now than the 2019s from what I remember
