Entity Of Delight

John Duval Wines

Entity Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

A perfect balance between oak and fruit (blackberry) from this Barossa Shiraz. Great winemaking from John Duval who has quite the CV. John was Chief Winemaker at Penfolds from 1986 until 2002 being only the 3rd custodian of Penfolds Grange after Max Schubert (creator of Grange) and Don Ditter. In 2020 this wine received Shiraz of the Year and 99 points from the James Halliday Wine Companion. The product of old vines in the Barossa. Luscious but in balance and overall - delicious. — 15 days ago

Heaven of Tipsy Delight Suirakuten Daiginjo

Forgot to take a pic so using stock. ChatGPT said this was the best quality/price ratio on the menu. I would say it was good/nice but not amazing but I guess 2x multiple is considered reasonable. I picked this over ones that were “cheaper” but I’ve either had or it was a 3-4x which seems silly to pay for a low end sake. Clean, light-weight, decent finish but the IWA was much more flavorful and longer finish. I brought the IWA so can’t compare price. Chef was nice and did not charge corkage on the IWA — 6 months ago

Le P'tit Blanc Anjou Chenin Blanc

Absolutely stunning Chenin. Aromatic, slightly oxidative nose, with notes of dried apricot, almond skin, Macintosh apple peel, Basque cider, preserved lemon, white truffle, and castelvetrano olive. Bracing, saline acidity on the palate with a slightly oily texture and a nutty finish. Just a pure delight!!! — 3 years ago

Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

On the nose ripe blackberries, boysenberry, and a hint of oak. On the palate - WOW! Each sip is a delight; just the perfect acidity and so flavorful. Will pair with anything but I’m looking forward to my steak and walleye dinner. — 4 years ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

This could garner a perfect score in about a decade.... gorgeous blackberry, raspberry, cedar and orange sorbet scents that are extremely pure and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very precise acidity and layers of crisp black fruit laced with vanilla from the new oak at the moment. That will be subsumed in time. What you have here is a very precise, multi-layered, almost sensual Montrose that is going to delight many for years to come. This is highly recommended--one of the finest Left Bank wines this vintage. — 5 years ago
