Strawberry rhubarb., distant herb garden, bramble, & fine toothed tannins. Beautiful tension & texture. Drinking nicely now- the dinner guest who brought it said previous bottles of same vintage were closed. Paired with sautéed duck breast in 5 Chinese Spices, plus roast beets with garlic dill yogurt sauce. Deliciousness in multiple dimensions. — 4 months ago
Pale yellow in color; lemon zest, honeysuckle, and lemon grass on the nose; high acidity; tastes like lemons, starfruit, saline, and a hint of passion fruit with a long finish. Leo likes it, and I do too. — 6 months ago
2013 at top level continues to drink fabulously, and Mugnier’s Fuées, a magical vineyard and essentially a southern extension of Bonnes Mares, is stunning today on pnp (although last sips were the best) wafting layers of sweet strawberry-rhubarb, sous bois, rose petals, game and smoky minerals. It’s liquid velvet in the mouth with an energetic spine of cool minerality and balanced acids adding freshness and focus to its delivery. It’s simply a beguiling combination of power and elegance and a superb expression of the vintage. — 8 months ago
Excellent balance of red and black fruit with just picked mushrooms and forest floor. A great value. Wow — a month ago
Mid gold in colour. Aromatics of yellow peach and honeyed notes. No traces of petro chemical. Medium plus intensity of stone fruit and mineral on the palate. Great depth. One of the top Rieslings in Alsace and showing it in spades. A beautiful Riesling and probably at its peak. Will stay on this plateau through the 2020’s. Interestingly about 25% went through malolactic so this is a different style from the usual Cuvée Frederic Emile. Very fresh for a 14 year old Riesling but remaining fleshy and M plus bodied. — 6 months ago

Let’s explore this 2009 Clos de La Maréchale!
It’s medium ruby with garnet around the rim. The nose is positively perfumed with notes of violet, rose, boysenberry, mulberry, ripe black cherry, kirsch, clove, cedar, vanilla, cardamom, anise, chervil, fennel fronds, leather, crushed stone, forest floor, tobacco, peat moss, and mushroom.
On the palate this wine is dry with medium (+) acidity, a medium body, high alcohol (14% ABV), flavors are concentrated and consistent with the nose. It has a lingering finish.
It’s multifaceted, vibrant, layered and delicious – cheers to exploring the world of wine one sip at a time! — 12 hours ago
