Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2017 “Les Saint Georges” pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, red flowers, sous bois, mushroom, and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The nose alone is worthy of songs. 1973 vintage. Okay fill. Opened with a Durand. Cork 80% saturated. Musty, hot, slightly “raisined” nose. Light medium body. Drank more like a Burgundy at this stage of life. Amplifying savory aspects currently. Definitely instructive and an absolute blast to hit the FLB (Friday Lunch Bunch) with. These formative, ancient Napa Cabs always so revealing, primal and archival. The 1973 cork a little longer than those short stuff 1968 and 1969 ones. 6.12.26. — 17 days ago

On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of strawberry, raspberry, dried roses, sous bois, licorice, dried green herbs, gentle warm spices and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and full of rustic character. In general, the 2013 vintage in Burgundy is on fire right now. And as far as Domaine de l’Arlot is concerned, I adore these wines and wish I could drink them more often.
