Amazingly tight for a 16-year old wine. The acids are smell-able on the nose, zinging along tart, macerated wild cherry fruit and glacier-crushed rock fragments. (OK, maybe I’m making up the part about how the crushed rocks were created.) In the mouth it’s deep but the acids rip this along on the palate like a whitewater canoe ride. Beautiful aromatics with light (dried?) dusty cherries, wilted flowers, a hint of rose. Quite light, quite aetheric. So enticing!
Light bodied on the palate and very juicy. A present, fine tannic frame, filled with light cherry, a hint of red fruits, a light herby note. So poised & elegant and really delicious! — 2 years ago

Powerful for a Valtellina, and a little on the austere side. Mature nose shows chokecherry and leather, mahogany scents, along with lots of crushed rock. Intense but lean in the mouth, with zingy acidity and zippy crisp cherry and lots of minerality. Still a bit of puckery tannin. My brother brought this back from Italy a few years ago for me.
