The nose is pretty and pure, with fresh grapefruit, delicate red berries, and white flowers. The palate is approachable though it has nice tension to it, with orange pith, tangerine, bread dough, and a touch of saline. — 4 months ago
This is Stephen Henschke’s favourite vintage of H of G he said. This was the first vintage he bottled under screw cap and all subsequent vintages have been bottled that way. They have also experimented with the Vinolok glass stopper. As Stephen said “I love tradition and it is very important as a 6th generation family owned winery. However when tradition lets you down as it has with cork, there is time to evaluate better closures. “ He went on to say the 2002 has that distinctive Hill of Grace nose which you can’t define but it does have the trademark mint, spice and sage. The palate is profoundly intense and could go on for another 10 years but flirting with perfection right now. — 10 months ago

Classic dry and crisp champagne with tiny bubbles, lemon, and cream over a touch of minerality. — 3 months ago
From the small Grosse Lage vineyard of Berncasteler Doctor, this Kabinnet tips the sweetness scale at medium dry for my taste, yet still manages to be delicate. Enticing nose of orchard and tropical fruits, honeysuckles, with touches of flinty mineral note. Very long finish. I think it needs at least another 4-5 years to show properly.
Interesting notes about the winery: it’s named after the widow of Dr. Thanisch (Wwe.). The original winery was divided into 2 equal properties in the 1990s: Wwe. H.Thanisch – Erben Thanisch and Wwe. H.Thanisch – Erben Müller-Burggraef. — 9 months ago

Wow what’s not to love there! Lemon curd and lemon peel, chalk, white flowers, a bit of petroly thing too. The palate is a great acid backbone and everything else is a complement to it. There are some lemon juice, lemon peel notes dancing around Yes, there is some width, almost a viscosity quality to it on the fringes, some grip in the rear, before a great long lemon curd, honey, lemon peel finish that is lasting for ever. There is clearly SR in there, but it's so well integrated and balanced that it's super fresh and fun. You gotta love it! For 14 Eur in the Hamburg airport it's a steal. — 2 days ago
