Haut De La Clare

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. Last tasted 7.7.24 (9.3) and 3.15.24 (9.2). Medium-heavy body. Previously hesitant and reticent tannins beginning to creep into the finish right off the bat. Starts off fairly fruity, then tapers that down a bit at the end. Harmonious and über-pleasant. PNP now, double park it for a ten-spot or investigate somewhere in between. Consider the invitation proffered. Haut-Médoc doesn't move the needle at work (wish it did) but always more than happy to crush this Bordeaux bestie off premise. Consistent catch-all producer with "that's all?!" pricing. 12.03.24. — 17 days ago

Yep know about this producer. Given my limited time/opportunity to drink wine switched quite some time over to drink mostly Pinot for the reds.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Quite bright medium ruby , ruby pink rim . Quite elegant and reserved , some red cherry, violet , summer fruits , scorched earth , touch of spice . On the palate quite elegant also , summer fruits, blackberry , blackcurrant , red plum . Good balanced acidity , herbal touches on the medium length , saline tinged finish . Quite polished but still grippy tannins . This is showing well , especially with food , but has a relatively long future , from now and over the next 5-10 years. A very successful second wine . — 3 days ago

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Grand Cru Classé de Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 2007

Vintage 2007 | A treat. This Graves wine rocks each time I taste it. Mesmerizing smell. Lots of character and fruit in a taste that still shows tannins after 17 years. Very good effort in what is seen as a difficult year. Paired with truffed hamburger. — 7 days ago

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Blend of 37% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot, aged in 80% new French oak, deep Ruby color, purple edges, with aromas of dark fruits, floral spice and smoky cedar notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and black currants with cacao, tobacco, licorice and smoky spice. Fine grainy tannins, well balanced on long finish, ending with fruit, cedar, smoke and earthy mineral character. Very nice, but needs a few more years of bottle age to really enjoy, and will last for several decades! — 21 days ago

Pessac Leognan one of the standout regions in what was otherwise a difficult vintage in Bordeaux.
