Santa Barbara County Chardonnay

Beautiful wine! Restrained and delightful, with fruit, freshness, acidity, low alcohol and a round mouthfeel. You’ll like this one! — 20 days ago

Gramercy Cellars

John Lewis Walla Walla Valley Syrah

Nice - not overly jammy, and with a distinct taste of orange peel. — 2 months ago

Tyler

La Rinconada Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Upon opening this is very ‘simple’ - fruit & oak forward. Cherries & vanilla. Very much like a chilled Rioja Crianza. With time more depth emerges & more complexity.
Still cherries, but also undergrowth. The oakiness fades. The nose gains freshness.
On the palate this (with time) sheds the fleshy cherry and gains freshness & crispiness. Surprisingly sturdy & dry tannins for a Pinot. And quite fleshy.
Not a Burgundy, def not a Spätburgunder, still (after some breathing time) quite. Interesting. .

That sounds not that great. I have the 2014 i think and based on this review i need to check if it actually deserves cellar space.

@Pinotman /// Andreas it’s not a bad wine, esp. after breathing a bit. But def. not in the E&M or even good Village league.

Wynns Coonawarra Estate

John Riddoch Limited Release Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

One of Australia’s best Cabernets. Sue Hodder who is Wynns’ chief winemaker told me that only the best 2% of their wide resources of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes goes into John Riddoch. I guess it explains the continuing high quality of Black Label (the next Cabernet down in the Wynns range and an unbelievable bargain). Sue was the chief winemaker in 2008 when she made this wine and remains the chief winemaker at Wynns. See previous Delectable note as things haven’t changed much. Coonawarra Mint, cassis and blackcurrant. A full bodied palate with fine persistent tannins. — 2 months ago
