Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Vintage 2012 | I was overwhelmed by this 2012, feminine finesse and elegance. So well balanced. Made me so happy I decided to buy 2016 as well. Gems in the cellar. Paired with a Flammenkuchen with truffle. Lovely. 🥰 — 3 days ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

2019 vintage. On the heels of the excellent 2015 and 2016 vintages, the acclaimed 2019 was already behind the 8-ball. After tasting approx 60-65 2019 Brunellos, they are good but generally lacking that extra level of oomph that the ‘15’s and ‘16’s have. This is an exception. Blind tasting it, woulda flagged it for 2015-2016. 8.28.24. — 20 days ago

Azienda Agraria Lisini

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Wine group dinner (SJOS), a ton of wines and great conversations with no time for detailed notes. There were notes of dried figs, candied cherries, hazelnuts, leather, and chocolate. Very nice long finish. Happy I have a few bottles in my cellar — 3 days ago

Casanova di Neri

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Delicious wine. Complex and juicy with black- and redcurrants. Top vintage shinning through. If i was being picky there was slightly too much alcohol but that is really nit picking. — 7 days ago

Tenuta Il Poggione

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

2019 opened September ‘24. Unusual nose — briars and turmeric. The light red fruits on the front are quickly subsumed by a complex wave of tannins. I detect dark chocolate in the base notes. Orange zest in the high notes. There’s some other stuff happening in the initial tannic rush that I can’t identify, but they’re yummy. These desperate elements are held together by an initially soft tannic structure — but a stronger mineral component starts at the back of the mid pallet and it provides a long tasty finish.

Personally, I think it was best right out of the bottle. After the first glass, I let it open up for an hour, and it got a little less interesting as some of the.subtleties disappeared — but still very tasty! That suggests to me that it might not hold up to a long cellaring, but I am a bit perverse in that I like my wines young.

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

This was a magnificent wine. We had the 2012 in 2024, and it was drinking wonderfully. All the dark fruit flavors were clear and immediate, but the earthy depth was in perfect balance. Opened 4 hours before drinking, and decanted it: hardly any sediment, and yet its tannins were integrated and balanced. We paired with roasted leg of lamb and roasted potatoes and it was a@pure delight! All of us and our guests loved it. — 9 days ago

Bacci Wines

Renieri Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018

Nose - brick, clay, soil and white flowers. Main tasting notes - under-ripened plum, black cherry and sweet tart candies. Lovely mouth feel, soft in the middle and ending with just a little bit of a tiny zippy acid at the end. This wine is lovely and complex for under $100 bucks. — 9 days ago
