Flaccianello della Pieve Colli Toscana Centrale Sangiovese 2016

Medium ruby core , little more lighter garnet rim . Quite aromatic , spicy red plum , pine resin , red cherry and herbal , tobacco hints . On the palate a little richer and denser than the 2021 , herbal tinged red and dark fruits , pretty high acidity with more dusty tannins . Overall a bigger more structured tannic framed wine . Very long and powerful on the finish . Mineral and fresh summer fruit finish . This is very young still needs probably another decade , but is very promising . Balanced but powerful . Will probably have a longer life than the more refined and elegant 2021 — 13 hours ago

Quite approachable at this young age. 30 minutes decant and it’s open for business. Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, sweet spices, cocoa, and lightly roasted nuts. The depth of flavors and elegant medium to full body show the pedigree. If blinded, I would not be able to tell this is a Sangiovese dominant blend. Would prefer a bit more acidity. Albe Barolo Nebbiolo 2020

Garnet-colored. Hits like it might be astringent but immediately smooths out and rolls across your tongue leaving a layer of tannins that diffuses nicely. If you swish it around, it will make you pucker. Very dry but buttery if you keep it centered in your mouth. I bought it because of an average rating of 9.3 for this 2020 vintage but I don’t think I’d rank it that high. Maybe a 9.0, a little disappointing for $50. — 7 days ago

2019 vintage. Medium heavy bod. Tar, earth, dark cherry in the nose. High acidity/tannins painfully evident and only tackling this because some greedy human insisted. Visited easily 15 years too early. Mostly structural currently while the dark fruit tumblers slowly click into place. 10.30.24 — 25 days ago

Only had a taste but the reputation is undeniable. Giving and polished with no hard edges. Definitely robbing the cradle as the wine is dormant right now. I always confuse which wines from this region contain Sangiovese and this one does not. Wears the 14.5% abv. beautifully. Will enthrall with time but patience is suggested. — a day ago
