Le Loup Blanc

Cloudy Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Pale lemon. One the nose- apple, pear, peach, citrus, and a grassy/herbaceous note that I can’t put my finger on. Burst of grapefruit and pineapple with some minerality on the palate. Medium body. Nice, zesty acidity. Was a bit tight at first out of the bottle. Best to let it breathe a bit and losen up some. Fun and cheeky wine! — 4 months ago

Ulysse Collin

Les Maillons Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne Pinot Noir 2017

Most of the love in the Ulysse Collin lineup goes to the BdB’s but I am a big fan of the Maillons, particularly recent renditions. They’re more giving on release, always so demonstrative and aromatically expressive, and this one, based on the 2017 vintage is no exception, wafting layers of defined orchard fruit, bread dough and wildflower honey. The palate is both concentrated and focused with racy acids, a wonderfully textural mousse and a bright, energetic and mineral laced finale. Top notch Blanc de Noirs to no surprise. — 4 days ago

Silex Pouilly-Fumé Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Light golden in color.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing limes, green apples, grapefruits, bitter herbs, spices, light earth, minerals and black pepper.

Spicy finish with bitter almonds.

This is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc From the Loire Valley in France. Rich and elegant. Much more buttery than I expected it to be.

Still young and needs at least 5 years in the bottle to mature properly. I had the 2014 not too long ago, and it was even better.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Good by itself or with food.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$200.

Oyster Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Pale gold in color; lemon, yellow apples, and peaches on the nose; high acidity; tastes like lemon zest; honeysuckle, and pear with a long finish. Nellie and I like it. Rayne did not. — 24 days ago

Château Cheval Blanc

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1981

I never would have anticipated drinking my birth year of Cheval Blanc out of a Solo cup yet, here we are. The ‘81 is ruddy still; deep garnet color with some browning towards the rim and loads of sediment. The nose shows some of the telltale green-ness of vintage but everything has found harmony: the fruit has blossomed and structure has integrated. Dark fruited with tobacco, dried purple flowers, mushrooms, herbs and soft eastern spices. Charming! No particular rush to drink these but lovely now. — 4 days ago

Jacques Selosse

Substance Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

18-8, Disgorged in 2023. Holy shit, this is bloody amazing!!!! The nose is intensely elegant. Honey brioche, baked apples and spices. Bubbles are fine and sexy. On the palate, it's super - complex, layered and lengthy. And the fact it's only Disgorged last year...wow! My first Selosse. I now know why it's so hyped and I cannot disagree. Chapeau. — 2 days ago
