Just popped and poured. No sediment to speak of yet. Nose features intense mineral notes over fruit at present, almost verging on iodiney, with the dark pure cherry lurking underneath waiting for an opening. The palate is deep and nicely filled out, with the fruit showing up there. Terrific balance and intensity. Really nice. Will keep. 9.2 for now. Could go higher. — 2 months ago
Rich and ripe - still with balsamic notes - lovely aromatics. A lively nose from this excellent Chianti vintage. Plummy, savoury red fruits, earthy, a trace of mushroom. Goes without saying that this is an excellent food wine, even with the extra ripeness from the 2016 vintage. We drank our last bottle on 12/12/25 with home made pizza. Just an excellent Chianti. — 9 months ago

Montagny 1er Cru “Les Terroirs” — Famille Masse (Fabrice Masse), 2024, Burgundy, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A refined Premier Cru Chardonnay from Montagny in the Côte Chalonnaise. Crafted in a clean, restrained Burgundian style, focused on precision, freshness, and terroir expression rather than oak weight.
Aromas & Flavors
Green apple, lemon zest, pear skin, white peach, crushed limestone, subtle almond and faint white blossom notes.
Mouthfeel
Light to medium body, dry, crisp and linear. Bright acidity keeps everything lifted and sharp. Clean finish with minimal oak influence and no buttery heaviness.
Food Pairings
Oysters, shrimp cocktail, ceviche, grilled white fish, scallops, goat cheese crostini, light seafood tapas.
Verdict
Elegant, delicate, and beautifully composed. A Chardonnay that prioritizes clarity and minerality over richness. Impressive restraint, classic, polished, and very much in the “clean Burgundy” lane.
Did You Know?
Montagny is the southernmost village of the Côte Chalonnaise dedicated exclusively to white wines. Premier Cru sites often deliver excellent value compared to Côte de Beaune counterparts.
🍷 Personal Pick
This is my kind of Chardonnay, crisp, mineral, and oak-disciplined (just a kiss of it). An easy opener that stays precise and delicious from first sip to last.

Interesting Orange wine. Strong tannins, dark and musty, better when paired with a fatty meal to help cut through the acidity. — a year ago
Got the bottle, 32 euro at Trattoria Casalinga, Florence for MC BD. Why does Lamole taste better here than in Sydney? — 7 months ago
Solid Chianti. Everything I want. Fruit, earth, leather, tobacco, more fruit at the end. Tasting great with 8 years of age. — 3 years ago
