Just wow, deep rich, and also clean and worth every penny and every drop — 8 months ago
Fresh apricot, glazed almond, nutmeg, and cardamon spice. Layered with honeysuckle, pear, and green apple. There is a short crust, pear tart character on the nose. Still so grab and lively on the palate. Stone fruit, orchard fruit, toasted almonds, and Danish butter cookies. Linear acidity with bright, zesty finish with pithy lemon notes and tart apple. Lingering finish with a touch of warm spice. Waited a while to pop this one - it was well worth the wait! — 3 years ago

Deep ruby , thin pink rim . Fresh cassis , blackberry , quite spicy with a touch of vanilla, red plum . Quite open and enticing . On the palate this is somewhat linear with cool dark fruits , cassis , red plum , grafite and saline touch . Fills out well with quite grippy , cool tannins , fresh acidity , and good length with grafite , cassis finish . This is obviously not ready , however it was an enjoyable wine to drink over dinner , the freshness and cool fruit character are quite apparent , and the tannins though gritty are somewhat in the background . Though it was worth the experience , I would leave bottles a further 10 years before trying another. This is an elegant and well judged wine . — 9 months ago

Have not had a bottle from the winery for a long time. I believe this used to have the single “Lock Vineyard” designation. Not sure why it was removed as the fruits are still 100% from the vineyard.
Quite different than the ‘16 Retro Syrah, this is powerful with dark chocolate and licorice underpinning the ripe dark fruits such a plum and black currant. Rich and dense on the palate with long candied finish. Equally delicious. — 9 hours ago
